Derek! Congrats on the new layout. Damn, I need a nicer one. *grins*
Well... What have I been up to? I'm pretty okay with my midterms now, which is why I have time to type. Apart from that? Well, when I saw someone refer to Revolutions as Matrix: Abominations, I thought "it can't be that bad." Well, it jolly well can. What happened to the dialogue? What happened to a believable plot? Maybe it's because I'm a hard sci-fi fan, but I was expecting a more believable plot. And the cliches! Why drag up all those damn cliches? Why does x take so long to die??? (everyone takes forever to die.... damnit, it's not like I really care about them... )
---------SPOILER ALERT-------------
Also annoying (from the standpoint of an engineering student and wargames buff): all the hovercraft are the same. I 'd originally thought that each ship was really individual. Not Millenium Falcon type "tweaked to death" but designed keel-up for different roles... If I'm not wrong the Osirisis was different from the rest, which, in the light of the fact that all the ships in revolutions look the same probably means that Square messed up the animations, rather than the O being a completely different class of hovercraft. Where was the fleet? Why wasn't the fleet martialed to defend the dock? Why do the APUs have no front guard for the pilot like the combat mechs in 2nd Renaissance do? Why not just plug the APUs into the Zion power supply so they can fire those nifty energy weapons rather than the uber-MGs that run out of ammo so fast? Why does Cpt. Malfoye shout so much when fighting and why is it always the same "buckle up"??! All the damn APUs are already prepped for combat, if not actively engaged with Sentinels... (Of course, one could ask why the Sentinels just fly around instead of acting combat effective, but then one could argue it's in their swarm pathfinding AI and it isn't all that smart) Why don't the humans have charging EMPs in the dock waiting for the machines? (heck, I'd build 5 of them on wheels and drive them in one by one to disable each wave, then cycle it back to the rear to recharge in safety) Why don't the machines just drop explosives or nukes down the holes? Why haven't they nuked the caverns around Zion (sealing them in to starve or whatnot) by now?
