What's with all of this?
Rant #1: My DVD RW has failed. Don't buy BenQ. Seriously. It failed w/o any warning. And even when it was working fine, it had a tendency to hang the rest of my system. Right now the issues are 1)inability to detect blank disks (just keep retrying) and 2)inability to burn, even if disks are detected (fails after 2-6% of the job is done
I think that something misaligned inside and now its gone all hokey. But there was no impact nor anything else that might have caused damage...
Correction: Now the tray won't even come out/go in. Argh

Oh dear. Really sorry to hear that. Maybe you should have bought the other more expensive, cooler looking one.
I had a BenQ CD-RW once and it didn't give me any problems, though.
